We are so excited and nervous and twitterpated to launch the PTSD Parent Podcast!<\/strong> Chris and I have been working for more than a year<\/a> on this project – off and on in the midst of life’s challenges, as I’m sure you understand – and have put together our first season, available below.<\/p>\n

The Dream I Didn’t Know I Had<\/h2>\n

There’s the popular saying about how life happens to you while you’re making other plans, you know? That’s pretty much how my life has been over the last ten years or so.<\/p>\n

I had no long-awaited dream involving PTSD Parent, to be completely honest. I had been working through some issues and digging into PTSD recovery, and one morning I woke up and thought, “I can’t be the only parent out there with PTSD. I want to make something for us, a community, a place for inspiration and support.” And the PTSD Parent website was born.<\/p>\n

During that process, I applied for a contest that centered around podcasting. I didn’t know anything about it, so I asked Chris. He had recently been diagnosed with PTSD and had helped with PTSD Parent, and he said, “I know a lot about podcasting, let’s enter this contest!”<\/p>\n

So we did. We didn’t win. Then he said, “I still want to do this podcast project.” And the PTSD Parent Podcast was born.<\/p>\n

Why Listen to This Podcast?<\/h2>\n

There’s a lot of stuff to read and listen to day in and day out, I get it. But I like this project, and I think it’s worth a listen. And I’ll tell you why:<\/p>\n

• The episodes are about 30 minutes long, so not too long and not too short<\/li>\n
• We talk about PTSD from a male and female perspective, digging into a variety of issues<\/li>\n
• We are funny, so it’s not dry and trudgery (yeah, I made that word up)<\/li>\n
• It’s educational in spite of itself, so good for family members and friends of people with PTSD<\/li>\n
• There’s a lot of room to grow, and we look forward to having guests in upcoming seasons<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
